Scripture & Insight
Work out your own salvation with fair and trembling, for it it God that worketh in, you to will and to do his good pleasure.—PHILIPPIANS 2:12.
OUR ABILITY to “work out” our salvation—liberty from sin to walk in righteousness, comes entirely from God’s power “working in” us. Just as a diver relies on the air supplied by their team above to function underwater, we depend on God’s life-giving grace to accomplish what we otherwise could not. The diver’s work is made possible only because of the air provided to them, and in the same way, our efforts depend on God’s strength within us. By His grace, what seems impossible becomes possible, for He equips us with everything we need to fulfill His good purpose.
Reflect and apply
In what areas of my life am I struggling to obey God’s will because I feel inadequate or insufficient? How can I apply the truth that God is working in me to will and to do His good pleasure, and trust in His strength to accomplish the impossible?
Prayer
Almighty God, I trust in the power and sufficiency of Your grace. Grant me unwavering confidence that You provide all the resources I need. Help me set my will to Your tasks, working in perfect hope that they will be fulfilled through Your strength. Make me a beacon of joy and freedom, living in harmony with Your purpose. In Christ’s name, Amen.
