When God gives us a goal, but no one else understands, we must remember the story of Noah. God instructed Noah to build an ark to save his family and two of every animal from a worldwide flood that would destroy the earth.
To fulfill God’s purpose, we must make four choices:
- Dare to be different: Like Noah, we must be willing to stand out from the crowd and follow God’s plan, even when it’s unpopular. Genesis 6:9, “Noah had God’s approval and was a man of integrity among the people of his time.”
- Listen to God, not doubt: Noah heard God’s warnings and obeyed, even when it didn’t make sense. We must have faith in God’s plan, even when we can’t see the outcome. Hebrews 11:7, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household,”
- Do exactly what God tells us to do: Noah obeyed God’s every instruction, from building the ark to gathering the animals. We must follow God’s guidance without question or compromise. Hebrews 11:7 states, “Noah obeyed God and built a large boat to save his family.”
- Never give up on the dream God gives us: Noah persevered for 120 years, trusting God’s promise even when there was no sign of a flood. We must stay committed to God’s plan, no matter how long it takes.
By following these principles, we can fulfill God’s purpose for our lives, just like Noah did. As we walk with God, we will be out of step with the world, but we will be pleasing to Him.
May we learn from Noah’s example and stay faithful to God’s calling, even in the face of adversity.
